We ended up having quite a fun night last night. The weather was in the 50’s yesterday, and we knew this wasn’t going to hang around much longer so we opted to head out to dinner and try to enjoy the remaining parts of it.
We had a gift certificate we still hadn’t used from Christmas to Applebees. Even though it is not on the top of our list of places to go (though in Erie our list is EXTREMELY small) we decided nothing can beat a free dinner!
I enjoyed a $4 cosmo special to start. It was of course delicious and a nice way to start off dinner.
You will learn quickly that I am not going to be a blogger who takes a picture of each of her meals, unless it is something amazingly delicious! I opted for a pretty plain grilled chicken salad – nothing crazy or picture worthy.
Wes paid attention to me the entire time obviously 🙂 I am just kidding I think he was actually getting ready to snap a picture of me.
Yep there it is. Don’t be fooled, it probably took a good 5 attempts before I allowed him to even keep the picture. I am a little particular about pictures 🙂
After dinner we stopped by Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. It was a huge deal with Menchie’s came to town. I mean HUGE. We don’t get new things in Erie very often, so this was a big deal. The fact that frozen yogurt is like crack to me also made me very excited for this new addition!
I opted for vanilla mixed with oreos, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and cool whip. It was plain but delicious.
We came back home and watched a movie Wes found off NetFlix. I don’t remember the name of it but it was cute and entertaining. After the movie was finished we realized it was only 8:45. You will hear me say this many times but Erie is boring as hell. Most of our nights consist of dinner and coming back to watch a movie unless we have something special planned. Even if we wanted to go out and do something there is just zero to do. I guess for medical students it works out nicely with little distractions, but after 2.5 years it is really starting to get old.
Wes came up with the brilliant idea to go out for round two and get a margarita and chips and salsa. Um, yes please!
There was a newer mexican restaurant downtown that we had never tried and they claimed to have the largest selection of Margarita’s in the area (not hard to do). We just sat at the bar and I actually chose a pina colada margarita. They had about 8 flavor options, but I wasn’t blown away by the selection. Wes got crazy with a diet coke and we enjoyed a little time away from the house.
I do struggle sometimes on the weekends with healthier eating. I will never claim to be a nutrition nut or expert, but I try to select healthier things when I can. To be honest, when Wes first suggested this I turned it down thinking it was “too many calories too late at night.” Wes reminded me that you can’t limit yourself every day and you need to be able to enjoy things every once in a while. He talked me into it and I am sure glad he did 🙂
Off to get some laundry done and work on my fitness plan for the week. Will be back to post it when it is completed!
