I am not going to sugar coat it, this has been a tough week for me exercise wise. I don’t know if it is because I know my vacation is coming up VERY SOON or if it is because I have been so tired lately.
I finally made it back to the gym today and got a pretty good workout in. I stuck with my schedule and did legs day from the LiveFit program. I was excited when I looked at it to see that she added some new moves in there! I love to switch things up!
Here is a breakdown of my workout today:
After taking off since Sunday I was pretty happy that I was still able to get this in. I have every intention of getting the rest of the days in, just pushed it back a little bit.
After I finished up with my workout I drank a protein shake.
I don’t know how many of you out there drink protein, but this stuff is really growing on me! I will do a post some time on the different ones I use, but I find that they are great for recovery and they tend to curve my appetite too! I typically will drink one first thing in the morning while I am getting ready for work and then one after my workout. I used to think there was no way I would ever be able to drink these, but the taste has grown on me and I do look forward to it now!
I plan on bringing some protein which me while we are on vacation to make sure I still am recovering property after workouts. I have every intention of making sure to get a workout in almost every day. That is one of the great things about being married to an avid runner – he is always going to make time to get his run in for the day so that gives me no excuse not to take that time and get a workout in as well.
I was reading on the internet and I read several places that you should actually lift BEFORE you do your cardio. I have always been such a cardio girl that as soon as I get there I head write for the treadmill to stat my workout. I decided today to switch it up and do my lifting first. This was a tough day to start it though because I actually had a leg day. My legs were jello before I even stepped on the treadmill!
I have to say I think I do enjoy it this way. There are several benefits to lifting before cardio:
1. You are not tired from the cardio and can make sure you are give the lifting 100% without compromising form.
2. You are able to lift heavier because you are not already fatigued.
3. This is actually better for fat loss!
I think I like this new change and am looking forward to keeping it up!
Off to hang out with the husband. He has a friend staying with us for the next few days and I haven’t even started packing for our vacation!
