Today’s Workout – Easy Long Run
Total Miles: 11.02 miles
Total Time: 01:47:38
Average Pace: 9:46 min/mile
As I am starting this new journey towards qualifying for the Boston Marathon I plan on sharing my experiences every step of the way. The joys, hard times, struggles, and successes. I don’t want to leave anything good or bad out of the mix – because let’s face it there is a little bit of it all in training.
Each Sunday I will recap my week of running and let you know what my joys and struggles were from the week.
Monday – Speed work.
1/2 mile warm up, 6 x 400 at 7:30 pace, 400 jog in between each, 1 mile cool down.
Tuesday – Hill sprints and an easy run.
1 mile easy jog, 8 x 10 second hill sprints, 3.5 mile easy jog.
Wednesday – Easy run.
3 easy miles at 10:00 min pace.
Thursday – Speed work.
1/2 mile warm up, 3 x 1200’s at 7:50 pace, 400 jog in between each, 1 mile cool down.
Friday – Rest day. Friday’s will pretty much always be a rest day for me unless I have something crazy going on.
Saturday – Long run.
12 mile long run. Steady and strong.
Sunday – Easy long run.
11 mile easy long run. No pace requirements just run as my legs felt it.
Total Mileage: 40 Miles
This week’s joys/successes:
1. Two successful speed workouts. I was very nervous about these because I hadn’t done speed work in so long.
2. Longest mileage in quite some time, and overall my body held out strong.
This week’s struggles:
1. My calves. They have been so tight and really need to work on stretching and foam rolling more.
2. Heat. I have really struggled get my body used to the heat.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
