Today’s Workout – Easy Run
Total Mileage: 11.05 miles
Total Time: 1:46:59
Average Pace: 9:40 min/pace
I had an interview this morning and decided to opt out of getting up super early to run and wait until it was over.
I wish I had more positive news to report with the interview, but even though the job is good it is just not enough money to pay the bills. I was a little bit disappointed but it has only been about a week and a half since I lost my job so I am trying to stay positive.
I came home afterwards and decided to torture myself a little bit and run on our treadmill at home.
I wanted to test my mental toughness out a bit and I also I wasn’t sure how my hip would do so I wanted to give myself the option to stop at any point if I needed to.
I am also canceling my gym membership at the end of the month, so I want to slowly start teaching myself to run on the treadmill at home. This isn’t a forever thing, just until we figure out our budget and get some better income coming in.
I ended up going a total of 11.05 miles. I considered stopping at mile 3, 6, and 8 but I kept going and finished it out.
I didn’t run for just 6 minutes, my treadmill just resets itself after 99 minutes. I swear the first hour of a long treadmill run is the worst, after that it seems to go so much quicker.
A nice blurry picture of me stretching post run. I looked up some great new IT band stretches on Youtube last night and have done them several times today.
My hip is still hurting but I am just keeping at it with stretching and trying to get it loosened up. I THINK I have narrowed it down to my IT band but I am not 100% positive.
On more positive news, I am OFFICIALLY registered for a local 10k this Sunday!
I haven’t raced since my last marathon, and even though this is shorter I find that sometimes 5k and 10k distances are often harder because of how hard I push myself.
I have a goal in mind, but I don’t think I am ready to put it up on the blog. I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself ahead of time, but don’t worry I will let you in on it soon enough 🙂
What is your next race? Do you set time goals for yourself during races?
TODAY is the LAST DAY to enter my PRO Compression Giveaway!! I will be selecting a winner tomorrow afternoon!
Good job on the interview. Think of it as a practice run for when you get your dream interview/job. 🙂
Haha that is a good way to look at it – great thinking! 🙂
Sorry the job didn’t pan out as you thought it would- consider it more interview experience!
I try to look at that way – some $ would have been nice to start making again though 🙂
17 bucks for a 10k? I like that!!!
I know!! Can’t turn that down right!!??
Sorry about the job – something better will turn up for sure!! 🙂 My next race is a marathon at the end of September (hopefully!) After than I want to do some shorter races including a half in October if I’m feeling up to it. For the marathon, I just want to run the whole thing and finish. I have a goal of getting my 5K time down to 7 minute miles – need some work there!
Good luck in your marathon!! You will do great! Shorter races are so much different, but they are fun as well! I like to do a little bit of everything but I am training for the marathon. I used the shorter races as a “speed workout” and help me get ready! 7 minute miles!?! Go GIRL!!! I’d love to be that fast too but I have some work to do!
