Today’s Workout – “Long Run”
Total Mileage: 14.25 miles
Total Time: 2:09:13
Average Pace: 9:04 min/mile
This may be a quick post today because in about an hour my family will be arriving!
I am really excited to spend the next couple days with my brother and his wife and then my parents will be staying through next week.
I had to get up pretty early this morning to get my long run done, shower, and clean up a last few things before my family arrives.
I shortened my long run this week a bit because of time. I could have put in the extra 2-3 miles and stuck around 15 to 16, but I knew my body needed to stay around 70 miles for the week so 14 it was.
I said “long run” in quotes at the top because until I officially hit my marathon training I won’t be doing anything much over 15-16 miles for my long run. Time on my feet is important but there is no reason to go too crazy when I am primarily working to get faster during this time.
I will have a post later this week on how my training is going to work.
I did a total of 14 miles followed up by a 0.25 mile cool down.
I went back and forth between taking the run outside or running on our treadmill.
This thing ended up winning and we had a running date for a little over 2 hours. It actually went pretty well and I was able to progressively pick up my pace throughout the run.
I honestly expected my average pace to be a little bit faster, but it wasn’t too bad so I’ll take it.
My pace’s looked something like this:
Mile 1 – 9:30
Mile 2 – 9:30
Mile 3 – 9:21
Mile 4 – 9:21
Mile 5 – 9:10
Mile 6 – 9:10
Mile 7 – 8:57
Mile 8 – 8:57
Mile 9 – 8:57
Mile 10 – 8:49
Mile 11 – 8:41
Mile 12 – 8:37
Mile 13 – 8:00
Mile 14 – 8:00-7:47 (the 7:47 was only for the last 0.20 or so)
I could have probably picked it up a little bit more but overall I felt good and I am happy it’s done! This has been a tough week with running even though I haven’t mentioned it much, so this run felt good and helped give me a bit of confidence back.

Nice work! I ran for a lovely and relaxed 2:00 hours outside. Weather was perfect! Covered 15.1 miles. Felt great. Have a good time with your family.
Great job on the run and great pace! I can’t wait till I can get faster on my long runs, but I took this one a little bit easier.
I just found your blog from your interview with Dorothy at Mile Posts.
You should give yourself bonus points for running for two hours on a treadmill! I’ve done it before and I’m not a big fan.
Welcome 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! 2 hours on the treadmill isn’t always fun – but it gets the job done!! 🙂
