Today’s Workout – Easy Run
Total Mileage: 10.02 miles
Total Time: 1:32:08
Average Pace: 9:11 min/pace
Here we are at the end of another week! A long and crazy week at that, but a new PR for me on total milage.
Monday – Easy Recovery Run
Easy 7 miles averaging a 9:30 pace.
Tuesday – Progressive Tempo Run
0.5 mile warm up, 5 mile progressive tempo (8:27, 8:13, 8:00, 8:00, 7:53), 0.5 jog at 9:40 pace, 4 x 20 second sprints at 6:58, 40 second jog in between, 0.5 mile cool down. This totaled 7.08 miles.
Wednesday – Progressive Recovery Run
I started at a 9:40 pace and worked my way down to a 8:41 pace for a total of 6 miles. I came home later that day and ran another 2 easy miles at a 10:00 min pace for a total of 8 miles for the day.
Thursday – Speed Work
0.5 mile warm up, 5 x 1200 at a 7:41 pace, 0.5 mile jog in between each, 0.75 mile cool down for a total of 7 miles. Due to the events of the day I also ran another 4.15 miles later in the day to clear my head at around a 9:30 pace. I did a total of 11 miles.
Friday – Easy Run
Easy 5 miles run. I had some hip pain and averaged around 10:00 min mile.
Saturday – Long Run
13 miles in the morning averaging a 9:11 pace and then 3 more cool down miles averaging around a 10:44 pace. Total of 16 miles for the day.
Sunday – Easy Run
Ran a total of 10 miles at a 9:11 pace. My goal for this run was to take it as slow as I needed to and I made a point not to look at my watch. I ran at a comfortable pace and if I began to breathe hard I took that as a sign to slow down.
Another beautiful scenic run.
I seriously could run on these roads every day all day.
Total Mileage – 64 miles
This weeks joys/successes:
1. PR on total mileage. This is the most miles I have put in during a week in a LONG time. I’d have to go back and look at my previous training but it certainly may be close to the most miles EVER for a week.
This is my happy face after my last run of the week. Seriously I should put more pictures on my blog where my hair is done and I have at least a LITTLE make up on.
2. Only one really bad run. I only had one really tough bad run this week. My legs seemed to recover very well all week and for the most part I was successful on my runs.
This week’s struggles:
1. Losing my job. I think most of you knew this would be number one. While I was able to use running to help me cope with this, it also made my mind unable to settle down on several of my runs. It was tough but something I am working through.
2. IT Band/Hip pain. This started a couple days ago and while I had 2 days of pretty bad pain, today it seems to have gotten a bit better. I am not quite sure if it is my IT band for sure or more my hip, but I am working diligently to stretch and foam roll both several times a day.
What a crazy week it has been! I am thankful to see this one go and am looking forward to a new week and hopefully some new opportunities.
Before I go I want to wish my husband a very HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!
He has always been my biggest supporter, friend, inspiration, and best husband a girl could ask for. The past couple months have been anything but easy and I am 100% convinced I could have not made it through without my best friend. I love you sweetheart! Happy Birthday!
What did your workouts look like this week? What is your proudest moment?
27, wow. He’s still young 🙂 I’m 32. Have to say that your running awes me. Really. Used to be a competitive runner myself in first half of my 20’s…my life/fitness/eating habits/body and mind have went downhill and hit rock bottom since then…hard to talk about and on a continual search to figure out how to get back to me and actual energy and focus, but this search ends up in only more questions-shame-guilt-wasting time. If you know how to get back to it …email me 🙂 But I’m basically a mess at this point of hormones-metabolism-gut health and just…things are different. That’s all.
Sorry you lost your job…economy I suspect? Do you have a specific trade/degree or are you open to a lot of things? Jobs are so complicated and the STRESS of losing one is exhausting. wishing us both luck on that end cause the money worry is huge (I know). Breathe and be thankful for your health…that’s all I can say.
Thanks for stopping by! Honestly at this point due to our circumstances I am open to just about anything! I am applying to any job I can seem to find! I’ve applied to everything from jobs in the banking/business field to waitressing jobs. I just need a source of income for our family and to at least have something come in to cover bills/rent etc.
Good luck in finding your way back to running! I go through phases – in fact just a couple months ago I wasn’t running at all. I got burnt out and quit except for a couple miles a week. I think the thing for me is that if I don’t run I am a completely different person. Running allows me to relax and feel accomplished – it can turn my entire day around. Sometimes I still have to force myself out the door but at the end of the day it does amazing things for me!
Good luck and if you need anything feel free to contact me!
27…youngins. Even though I’ve ran a marathon a ton of half’s I NEVER ran more then hmmm, 3 miles without stopping!Bizare, right? So this weekend during my marathon training I ran 12 miles straight no stops to smell the roses. Brushing my shoulder off for that one!
Awesome job!!! That’s great! Sometimes depending on the course I will stop for 5-10 seconds on a long run but not much more than that. Great no with your run!
