Good morning! We had a great day yesterday which included church, family time, and a pre-interview dinner with the current residents in the program Wes is interviewing for.
Keep him in your thoughts/prayers today! This is one of his top choices.
We have one last day in North Carolina and will head back to PA on Tuesday!
Onto other things, Jen from Peanut Butter Runner tagged me in a a fun blogger survey yesterday, and honestly since I have been so busy I thought it would be a great blog post for today!
Thank you so much Jen for including me!
Here are the rules:
1. Include award logo in your blog post.
2. Link to the person who nominated you.
3. Answers 10 questions about yourself.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award and ask them 10 questions.
Here are Jen’s questions:
1. What is your favorite way to sweat?
Without a doubt my answer to this is and always will be running. I wish so badly I could run right now, but since I am sidelined some of my other favorites are: spinning, swimming, lifting, and walking.
2. What was your favorite subject in school?
I am a certified math geek. I didn’t LOVE it but I was always good at it so that made it one of my favorite subjects.
It also was the reason I was a Business and Finance major in college.
3. Do you like to plan things out in detail or be spontaneous?
This question makes me laugh because my husband and I are exact opposites. I wish I could be spontaneous, but I never have been. I want everything planned out and want to know what is going on ahead of time.
My husband loves to just “go with the flow” and it drives me nuts. We have learned how to meet in the middle somewhere thoughout the years, but I will always be a planner.
I even love planning out and having my workouts ready.
4. What is your favorite type of ethnic food?
I have to say Chinese or Japanese. It’s hard to choose, but we always love looking out for new restaurants to try.
5. Tell me about the coolest city you’ve every visited.
We love Charleston, SC. We went there for our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. If we could have our way we would move there in a heart beat.
6. Have you ever sky dived? Would you?
No I have never sky dived and no I never would. I am terrified of heights and I’ve always said that no one could pay me enough to sky dive.
I am OK with never experiencing that.
7. What’s your number one piece of advice for new bloggers?
I am still relatively new to blogging so I am still learning a lot, but the best advice I could have is be yourself. Don’t write about what you see others write, be yourself and make your blog about what makes you unique.
If you try to copy others the fun of blogging will die, you have to keep it fun! Be YOU!
8. Hunger Games or Twilight?
(source)
Hands down Hunger Games. I have read both and seen both movies so far, and I would have to choose Hunger Games. I liked the books and movies better, and was much more interested in the plot.
Plus my husband doesn’t completely dread taking me to see the Hunger Games movies.
9. Do you enjoy hiking and camping or city streets and fancy hotels?
This is a tough one. I love hiking and camping and being outdoors. However, the husband and I haven’t gotten to do much hiking or camping in quite some time due to medical school.
10. What is your dream job?
I would have to say working for a race company. I would love to plan, set up, and organize races and sports events.
I have always joked with my husband about opening a running store. I would use it more than just selling running products, but also organize running clubs and events.
Of course, it would never happen but in an IDEAL world I would be in heaven.
My questions for others…
1. What is your favorite non-running form of exercise?
2. What made you decide you start blogging?
3. If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be?
4. What is your favorite weekend activity?
5. What is a current goal you are working towards?
6. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
7. What is one positive thing blogging has brought to your life?
8. What is your favorite blog to read?
9. What is your favorite workout song?
10. What is your favorite holiday?

Now it’s YOUR turn. Answer of of Jen’s questions from above!
I will go with ‘favorite city’.
And it is Boston.
Sure that is a bit unfair as it is my ‘hometown’, born and raised there and lived there with wife and brought up kids until I was 42 and we had to move for economic (job) reasons.
What I love about Boston is that it truly is a ‘walking city’. And we love walking! I love how much there is to do, and how quick and easy it is to get to the mountains of New Hampshire, the beauty of the Berkshires, the beaches of Cape Cod, and all of the great stuff in NH, Maine and Rhode Island.
My wife and I would love to move back there after the kids are through college, but we also love the Corning area for all of the gorgeous natural beauty.
I got to travel a lot for work, especially early in my career … so I also love San Francisco and Seattle. Other cities I can take or leave …
Thanks so much for the nomination – I’m honored and excited to do the post sometime soon! I am SUCH a planner, too … helpful most of the time, but trying to learn to loosen up a little bit :). I’m kind of with you on sky diving … too scary, don’t really want to do it, but I kind of WANT to want to do it, ha! And I’ve never seen or read Twilight, but I liked the Hunger Games!
I am all about sponteneity so long as I can plan it out! 🙂 But my wife is much more of the list and itinerary type … which is ironic because when we were first married I would make an Excel sheel with vacation itinerary …
As for Hunger Games vs. Twilight … I never read the Twilight books, but the movies are and abomination of terrible acting and cheesy film-making. And they just kept getting worse – almost like the producers said ‘these people will pay no matter what, so let’s slash the budgets and whack ’em out quickly!).
I read the Hunger Games trilogy, and was disappointed at how each book got worse -especially the last one. The first movie was pretty decent, so I look forward to how they play out.
Have you guys read the Divergent books? The first one I tore through in two days on a business trip earlier this summer, and the second one took me longer as I found it somewhat slow through the middle. Hoping the final book is decent when it hits later this year.
Haha, perfect comment – “I’m all about spontaneity as long as I can plan it out.” I love it! I’m totally the Excel spreadsheet vacation planner, too :). Hmm, I actually only read the first 2 Hunger Games books, so maybe that explains why I liked them (didn’t realize the last one wasn’t so good). They’re great vacation reading – I think I need a vacation so I can catch up on the third one plus Divergent (which I’ve never even heard of, so thanks for the recommendation!). And, Michael, CONGRATS on your marathon PR!
Thanks Sara! Crazy day – definitely not ‘October in Western NY’ weather!
Haha yes I try to loosen up some but it never works! 🙂 I will continue to try though!
You show pictures of your notebooks so we KNOW you aren’t loosening up ! 🙂
That isn’t a bad thing – I think it is all about choosing your battles. Sometimes it is also about control – control of self and situation. And in many situations you really need a tight itinerary … but on a beach vacation it can actually ADD to your stress! 🙂
Haha yes that is true 🙂 I am ok with not having an itinerary on vacation 🙂 I just want every other aspect of my life planned out! HA
Super cute – thanks! I will reply to this while the kids are napping or after they’re in bed 🙂
Awesome! Look forward to reading it 🙂
Thanks for tagging me! I will for sure do a post on this 🙂 Glad you’re having lots of fun! Good luck to Wes!
Thank you so much! Looking forward to reading your post!
Thanks for tagging me! This is my first “award.” So exciting and such a great way to get to know other bloggers. I just posted my answers. I hope you enjoyed your last day in NC!
I could never sky dive either! Fear heights WAY too much to tip over the edge in a plane. Eek!
Hi Sara! I have answered the questions on my blog – thanks for including me, it was a really fun post to write! – kelly
Great! Glad to hear it!! Will head over and read it 🙂
Kelly – it looks like the link in your comment profile is incorrect (points to iamrunningthis.wordpress.com rather than your domain). Just have to say again that I am enjoying reading all of these new blogs.
What is one positive thing blogging has brought to your life?
I finally shared my before and after photo! To put the pictures side by side really makes you go Wow! I did this! Next up will be the before and after in the bathing suite! That brings me to another question….
What is a current goal you are working towards?
My own personal photo shoot….bikini and all! 😉
Wow awesome job!!! It is amazing when you see how much your hard work has paid off!
You can do the bikini photo shoot! I know it! 🙂 Rock it!
