I was doing my normal daily blog reading yesterday and stumbled upon a post by Tina titled 24 Days of Togetherness.
I have mentioned previously my husband and I are in the process of finding our own holiday traditions. I was reading through the post, and realized this is something that would be great for us to do together!
The task is simple:
1. Write down 24 activities you can do as a couple between December 1st and December 24th.
2. Each day you pull out one and do whatever the paper says.
Simple.
My husband has a crazy lot going on right now, so I asked him to simply write down 6 and then I would write the others. This way there is a bit of surprise in it.
He agreed!
I got busy last night trying to come up with some ideas.
I got out a small basket we had laying around and cut 24 strips of paper.
Come December 1st we are ready to go! I look forward to chronicling it on the blog as well and hopefully it will be a tradition we can pass on every year!
It helps us all to step back and remember the small things. The holiday season is always crazy, busy, and sometimes stressful. We don’t want it to pass us by without celebrating the important things in our lives.
Who wants to join in on the fun!?
Yesterday I spent all morning catching up on work.
Around 12:00 I had to run out to ship out our iPhones (we got them both sold for more than we were expecting!) and then I had plans to go to the gym.
As I was driving back I just didn’t feel like being in the gym. Maybe it was laziness but I just didn’t feel like being inside.
I decided it was time to take a break from the gym today and go outside on a walk with Zoe.
The weather is looking bad here for the next few days, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to get some exercise for the both of us.
About 15 minutes into the walk the snow started to pick up and I decided to cut the walk short.
In total we did about 30 minutes which was just what I needed to get out of my morning funk. I was also dealing with a headache for most of the morning which magically disappeared after some time outside!
There is something about the outdoors that just puts me in a better mood.
This was my attempt at showing you the snow coming down. I’ll keep working on my photography skills!
After we got back I promptly heated up some water to have some hot tea.
It as just what I needed to warm back up!
I guess the walk worked too, because Zoe promptly passed out on the floor. If you know my dog at all you will know this NEVER happens.
Do you ever just not feel like being inside?
Do you have snow where you are?
Love this idea – I am going to try to think of a variant for the 4 of us for December. 🙂
We have a nice inch or so of snow, and it is kind of a mess today. Not stopping me from running – I did my normal run yesterday and I’m taking today off and heading out soon. Which I guess also answers about wanting to be outside 🙂
We have a good 6-8 inches here now after last night. I’ll be back in the gym today but that’s okay. I just needed a break!
Hope this works out for family! Let me know how it goes!
Enjoy your run 🙂
Great idea! I’m single so I guess I won’t be doing it-sad! 🙁 Even though I love the weather where I live, I’m a little jealous of the snow. I haven’t seen it in forever and it would be a nice change…maybe for like one day. 🙂
Yes I wish we would get snow for one day and then be done. HAHA
We have a snow warning for 3 days straight. Oh joy! 🙂
I love this idea and think it is so cute when Tina has done it before! Darn traveling jobs- it won’t work for us since we’ll likely be apart 12 of the 25 days!! But something to bookmark for the future, and I’ll have fun following your adventures! I agree with being outdoors- always makes me feel better!
Awww that is sad 🙁 but maybe you could find a way to do it with smaller things while your traveling? Or just do it on the weekends when you are home!
Enjoy your time off for Thanksgiving!
This is such a good idea. Love the idea of being intentional about togetherness during the holidays — sometimes the velocity of craziness pulls us in so many directions!
I totally agree Kristin! It helps everyone to slow down and really enjoy the time together during all the craziness!
I love the idea of the 24 days of togetherness. I was just reading about it on Carrots n cake this morning. I would like to hear of ideas from other bloggers about what they are doing each day!
Once I finish coming up with mine I will be more than happy to share some of them with you!
I really like the 24 Days idea, I bet I could tweak it to fit for a family. 🙂 We had our first real snowfall last night and the buses were cancelled today. Little was pretty excited and quickly scoffed down his breakfast, threw on his snowsuit and headed outside to play with his friends.
You could definitely tweak it for a family! If I had kids I would love to include them in it! Thats why I love it so much it can be tweaked as our family grows! 🙂
Anything outdoors beats the gym any day! It just feels healthier too than cooped up with a bunch of people coughing over the machines! The gym has its place and I make myself go, but I’ll run or hike or snowshoe outdoors whenever I can.
This is very very true 🙂
Love this idea! Thanks for sharing! I normally pop little chocolate and notes into a do it yourself advent calendar set of stockings but I’m definitely going to be including something fun to do together each day this year too! 🙂
I’m loving the 24 days of togetherness idea! I definitely look forward to seeing what kinds of ideas you guys came up with!
Great idea! Unfortunately my husband is on a business trip for the next two weeks so it’s not going to happen! How nice that you’re at the stage of life to start picking out your own holiday traditions. I remember how fun it was for my husband and I to buy our own Christmas ornaments. Actually we got to do that a few times, thanks to our cat knocking over our Christmas tree and then to having little kids. But you know what, fun memories!
