Ahhhhh relaxation!
The interviews are done. Time to relax for the next two days until we make the long trek back to Pennsylvania.
We spent last night with my parents, we are hanging out with one my best friends and her husband tonight, and one last night with the in-laws tomorrow.
We pretty much covered all our basis for the last few days, and I am really looking forward to it!
Remember how I told you that I would not go to Starbucks again and NOT get coffee.
I came through on my promise today.
Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte. I haven’t had one in quite a while and it really hit the spot.
This week’s addition of Five Things Friday is going to be focused around Five of My Favorite Sweet Indulgences.
I’ve mentioned it just a few times on here that I love sweets. It is something I am in constant battle with every single day.
If you follow me on Pinterest, you will see I am always pinning new treats to bake up and try!
Warning: If you are hungry or have a sweets addiction like myself you may not want to go any further.
I thought I would share with you some of my top favorite sweet treats.
1. Blue Raspberry Soda Bottles
My husband is a candy fiend. I kid you not anywhere we go he looks up to see if they have a bulk candy store nearby.
Case and point: I took this picture on our honeymoon in Charleston, SC. Wes was so upset that the store was closed that night.
One of our all time favorite candy is Blue Raspberry Soda Bottles.
They are really hard to find so for our wedding I ordered them off line and had them put on our table.
Wes just isn’t that big of a cake fan (even though he enjoyed thoroughly shoving it in my face on our wedding day), so I wanted to have something for him and to add a little personal touch.
2. Anything with Oreos
I love Oreos. There isn’t a single recipe I have ever tried involving oreos that I didn’t love.
One of my favorites is Oreo Rice Krispie Treats with White Chocolate Topping.
I made these once for Wes and he loved them. I don’t make them often because they are too much of a temptation to have around the house, but they are delicious!
3. Snickerdoodles
I have always been a huge fan of cinnamon.
One of my earliest memories is on Saturday morning’s my mom and dad would make my brother and I Cinnamon Toast. I think Snickerdoodles taste a lot like that.
In my eyes you just can’t go wrong with a sugar cookie, cinnamon, and sugar.
4. Frozen Yogurt
One of my favorite treats is and always will be frozen yogurt. I love trying out new kinds and finding new shops wherever we go.
My favorite flavors: Vanilla, Cookies N’ Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and Graham Cracker.
Wes likes to share it with me so I don’t quite feel as bad.
I also really love the healthier version I make at home.
It isn’t the same, but it is a great healthier substitute! Just add some frozen bananas, milk, protein powder, and any other frozen fruit of your choice and blend.
5. All Things S’Mores
I love love love love love all things S’mores. If there is a s’mores flavored ANYTHING you better believe I will try it.
One of my favorite creations that I have made is: S’mores Chocolate Chip Cookies
These are so so rich and so terrible for you, but they are a great indulgence every now and then!
They are actually supposed to be small cookies but mine turned out huge so we like to munch on them little bits at a time.
There is a s’more INSIDE the chocolate chip cookie.
DELICIOUS!

Its funny … my wife made snickerdoodles a few weeks ago for something at work and the boys and I got one each (she has special pans with large fun shapes, so it is really like 2-3 cookies) … but it wasn’t enough for me … so last weekend I made a huge batch that we just finished yesterday. Not going to bother being humble … they were awesome. Universal acclaim from Lisa and the boys 🙂
I do love sweets, and one of my huge victories of the last two years has been not eating packaged, processed sweets. In stead I have done more baking – which gives me more control over exactly what is in my food. Also, portion control has been key 🙂
Enjoy the next couple of days – looks like you’ll be home just in time for the temperatiure to dive again!
I am such an oreo fan! I made these before and they were amazing!! http://sweetpeaskitchen.com/2011/06/grand-cayman-no-bake-cookies-and-cream-bars/
Ice cream…Ice cream….Ice cream….but the FroYo shops popping up every where now are a close second!!
yum yum yum! I’ve always wanted to try those s’mores cookies! They look so tasty! My favorite sweet indulgence is ice cream – preferably chocolate with lots of chocolate goodies mixed into it!
I agree, anything with Oreo’s is awesome. I can’t keep them in the house because I’ll eat the entire package in one sitting. haha.
They are saying now that oreos are as addictive as some drugs now! 🙂 haha yes I can’t keep them in our house either!
I’m with ya! I have a crazy sweet tooth! Anything sweet and I usually love it! I like my coffees sweet (mochas), breakfast is always sweet, (smoothies, or yogurt) and I LOVE baking. Thank goodness I like to exercise! All I know is that moderation is key, I can have all those things, in moderation, with plenty of exercise, and lots of other healthy foods (protein, vegetables). With holiday season coming up though, it might get a bit out of hand… 😉
Holiday season is the worst when it comes to sweets! I remember in my last job people use to bring us all sorts of goodies all throughout the holidays! It was just too much to handle at some points!! 🙂
Oh I am such a sweets fan and everything on this post made me drool! Thanks a lot 😉
Haha you are welcome Megan! 🙂 I aim to please!
I am a sweets person through and through! I am pinning most of these!
That s’mores chocolate chip cookie is killing me right now!
Cute wedding pic 🙂

Sweets are the best things ever! I have too many of them this weekend – time to get back on track!! 😉
Not a candy fan (sorry Wes) but oh, I love S’mores! I made these cupcakes a few years ago for a cake auction http://sweetapolita.com/2011/05/campfire-delight-cupcakes/ from Sweetapolita. They were AMAZING and I generated some serious money for our Relay for Life Team.
Oooh S’mores and cupcakes!? You sure can’t go wrong there! I will have to try these out sometime!
Totally saved THAT recipe 🙂 We had maple spice cupcakes last night … always up for something good!
Wow! That sounds delicious as well!
Those smores cupcakes use a bit of instant espresso … same with or maple spice. Adds some savory taste to keep things from getting cloyingly sweet.
