Today’s post is going to be short and sweet because I am taking some time off to spend the day with my husband (when he’s not studying) and skyping with our families back in North Carolina!
I’ll be back to normal posting tomorrow.
Until then, I just wanted to come on and say Thank You!
This has been one of the toughest years in a while. Between losing my job, getting a femoral stress fracture, and some other things that have come up that I am not sharing on the blog for personal reasons it has not been easy.
Yet, I am so thankful!
I am thankful for each and every one of you. Thank you for reading, for the advice, for the tough love, and for always being there. This blog has been such a great release for me over this past year and I am so so thankful.
From the bottom of my heart thank you for being there and seeing me through this year. I am taking this day to relax and reflect on all that I am thankful for in my life.
I have an amazing husband, a loving family, all of you awesome people, a roof over my head, food on the table, a car to drive, and so many more blessings.
Enjoy this day with your friends and family and remember all the simple things we can be thankful for!
I’ll leave you with this fun Q&A I found on Shut Up and Run.
1. How old do you have to be to move up from the kids’ table?
I didn’t move up until I was in my 20’s because we had no room, but I’d say at least a teenager.
2. Stuff the turkey or cook stuffing separately? (aka salmonella or not?)
No stuffing. Sometimes we have stuffing on the side, but I won’t be having it today.
3. Who sits at the head of the table?
My dad.
4. Pumpkin, pecan, apple pie?
That is hard I’d have to go with apple pie though pumpkin is a close second. My dad loves loves loves pecan pie so we always had one of those too!
5. What the hell is mince meat?
I have never heard of it.
6. Is it okay to play Christmas music on Thanksgiving?
Yes. Though I have never done this. The day after Thanksgiving though the Christmas music comes out!
7. In five words or less, worst Thanksgiving memory?
Being sick.
8. Speaking of leftovers. Who gets dibs on them?
My mom used to give them to anyone who wanted it. It was a first come first serve kind of deal, but somehow we always ended up with the most still.
9. Worst Thanksgiving food?
Is there such a thing? I can’t think of any I don’t like it.
10. Best Thanksgiving quick joke?
Q. Why do turkeys eat so little?
A. Because they are always stuffed!
Tell me, what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
Answer any of the above questions!
Happy thanksgiving to you and Wes and your whole family – and don’t ever let anyone tell you that your fur babies aren’t your children as well! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well! 🙂 From the looks of Instagram you all had some delicious food on the table!
Definitely – I love to cook, Lisa has done a good job of letting go in the kitchen so we can all cook, and our younger son is just amazing … moderation was the challenge and none of us ever got overly full!
My parents are from the UK and we have mincemeat pies during Christmas, it’s a tradition for us. Mincemeat is made with a variety of fresh, dried, and candied fruits that are all stewed in a delicious mixture of butter, apple juice, dark brown sugar, rum, brandy, orange zest and ground spices. It’s used in tarts and pies and is oh so yum!
Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your day relaxing. As a Canadian it’s just Thursday for me 🙂
Great to know what that is!! I have never heard of it before 🙂
Enjoy your Thursday!!
I think Mincemeat pies are falling out of favor – growing up they were my grandfather’s favorite and many of the aunts and uncles liked them as well. But now that they are in their 70s and 80s I just don’t see mincemeat much at all – my brother in law likes it, so if we see them we will have it, but that is about it.
Happy, happy thanksgiving to you. Thank you for sharing your story here, I know that it provides a great deal of joy to many, many people.
Thank you Kristin! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
You’ve for a great attitude and I love the list of what you are thankful for!
We don’t celebrate thanksgiving here in Australia but I can still be thankful for a lot of things too. Like my boyfriend, my family and friends and definitely for blogging too 😀
Every day is a day to be thankful! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Jan!
Happy Thanksgiving, hope you all had a great day. Stumbled across your blog from Ellie. I’ll be back! Have a great weekend, Paul 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Paul! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! How was it? I’m so excited for Christmas music today :).
Ours was low key and PERFECT! I missed my family, but it was a nice day with just the hubby and I! How was yours? I was listening to Christmas Music yesterday while cooking 🙂 Ready to put up my tree now!
It was wonderful! Kevin’s family is a blast and I got 10 hours of sleep, so I’m a happy camper!
