Happy Monday! It doesn’t feel quite like a normal Monday to me because we are soaking up our Christmas vaction.
We had our first Christmas party yesterday and had a blast!
We played outside in 70 degree weather! What is going on?! Please don’t make fun of my Erie paleness, I normally do not see the sun this time of year. Oh, and there was a 4 year old there we didn’t just go to the playground for the heck of it.
We hung out with family and simply enjoyed the time together.
The original plan was to go to the gym do some light walking and weights this morning but my mother-in-law’s car wouldn’t start so we opted just to go for a 45 minute walk. It was the perfect day for it! It was a nice break, but I will be back in the gym tomorrow!
I have a special treat today.
Remember when I mentioned that I won a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 17’s from Jacqueline’s blog?
I got to try them out last Saturday! To be honest, I have worn them for every workout I have had since then. Can you tell I really like them?
A long time ago I tried a pair of Mizuno shoes and really didn’t have a good experience. I don’t remember the type because it was probably 6 years ago, but I had stayed clear of them until recently.
A couple months ago I bought a new speed shoe from Mizuno, but it also happened to be around the time I got this little injury, so I never really got a chance to try them out.
When I won these I got really excited. I won’t be wearing speed shoes anytime soon so this gave me an opportunity to try out Mizuno again.
Feel/Support: 5 out of 5
When I first tried on the shoes they felt amazing. It was probably because I haven’t had a new pair of shoes in quite a while. The heel felt a little higher than I was used to, but once I started running I didn’t notice it anymore.
They added just enough support without making them a heavy/clunky shoe.
The shoe itself is about 8.6 oz and is a great every day trainer in my opinion. I wouldn’t race in them but I would use them for every day training runs and long runs.
Color: 4 out of 5
The female version of the Mizuno Wave Rider 17 comes in three different colors:
White – Dark Slate – Dewberry

Dark Slate – Cabbage – Raspberry Rose

Sugar Coral – Aurora – Dark Slate

I was given the White – Dark Slate – Dewberry.
I love the colors and they are very classic, but I have to admit I have been really eyeing the Sugar Coral – Aurora – Dark Slate as well.
Overall I think they have a great variety of colors.
Since I do have a few male readers out there, here are the men’s colors:
White – Black – Fiesta

Black Slate – Bright Marigold – Columbia

Olympic Blue – Cyber Yellow – Dress Blue

Fit: 5 out of 5
I had fallen in love with shoes before I had even tried them out. However, I know from past experience sometimes when I actually try out new running shoes they don’t feel as good as they look.
My Mom always tells a story about when I was little and I didn’t like my shoes I would say: “these shoes haven’t gotten used to my feet yet.” There are shoes that work for my husband that just don’t work for me. Point, everyone has different preferences.
I was a little nervous as I always am when I run in a new shoe, but these did great!
They felt loose enough to where they didn’t rub and cause blisters, but they also stayed snug and were the perfect fit.
Overall: 5 out of 5
This will be a shoe I return to in the future.
I have to say I am glad that I got over my fear of Mizuno and gave these a shot. They are going to be a great addition to my running shoe collection and I can’t wait to be able to use them on training and long runs in the future.
I would highly recommend these! You can check them out on Mizuno’s website.
Have you ever run in Mizuno?
Are there any shoe brands that don’t work for you?
I have tried Mizuno many times but they just don’t feel right on my feet….I always go back to Brooks as my shoe of comfort/fit/etc…
That is the experience I had with the first one but these were much better! Everyone has their own preferences – it is just about finding what is best for you!
Yes, I love my Mizunos! Right now i am training in a pair of Wave Creations (they are mainly my treadmill sneakers); I enjoy running in Wave Inspires outside. It’s odd that one pair works better for me on the mill, and the other works better for me outside, but I guess it’s because the treadmill changes your gait a little bit. I always get excited when I hear someone else has become a Mizuno lover, because I enjoy them so much! I’ve already converted a number of people to get then to wear them just because I absolutely love mine!
I am really going to have to try the Wave inspire, everyone says such great things about them!
Mizuno wave riders are my SHOE. I love them. They fit my feet like gloves. I’m glad you like them. I love getting funky colors… the funkier the better.
I love getting funky too with colors! They really are great so glad I gave Mizuno a chance again!
I love my Mizuno Wave Inspire 9 shoes!
I have heard great things about the Inspires! Would love to try them out one day!
I have the same pair. Running with WR since WR14 (which was awful but I started with it so got used to it). The WR16 was great and this is even better. I usually race in them.
Wow you have worn them for a long time! I have heard they have really improved over time.
I’ve never used Mizuno before but have heard good things. I tend to prefer more minimal shoes, less cushion, lower drop (4mm or less). Mizuno now has stuff in that range, will have to check them out! Oh, love the Olympic blue, but I prefer a really bright yellow / lime green or orange running shoe. 🙂
Love all the pics! Looks like you guys are having a great time! We sank into winter so fast that enjoying the warmth has been just awesome! Too bad it won’t last!
We are having a wonderful time! I am soaking up as much time as I can which is why I am blogging at midnight!
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
I hear such great things about Mizuno all the time but they just fit strangely on my feet in such a way that I can’t take more than 2 steps without discomfort 🙁 I keep hoping a future shoe by them will work out for me so every time they launch a new one or upgrade I try it on just in case!
That is how they used to be for me, these are the first pair of Mizunos I have been able to wear without them hurting my feet. Hope you find one that works for you 🙂
I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about these shoes recently, I may have to go to our local running store and take them for a spin! I just wish the ladies ones came in the blue/yellow combo that the mens come it – much more my style than pink or purple.
Yes that would be good! I like to vary my colors of running shoes, but the blue like the mens would be perfect!
I’ve never run in Mizuno’s, but I’ve heard great things about them! I love that color you got, but I’m also loving that coral color and the aqua one!
Yes the coral and aqua looks REALLY pretty!!
I can’t wear asics. They just don’t fit my foot right and make my leg hurt on Theodore side of my shin. Who knows!?
I know how you feel – I have some shoes that I just can’t wear either. As long as you use what works for you 🙂
I wear Mizuno Wave Inspires right now – LOVE THEM!
I would love to try the Inspires! I have heard great things about them as well.
I love the Mizuno Wave Rider line. I currently run in the 16s, but will hopefully get a pair of 17s soon!
Love love love Mizuno! So glad you like them.
