It’s Monday so you know what that means! Time for another installment of Bloggers on the Run!
You may remember Cheri from a couple weeks ago when she guest posted about her experience at the Greensboro Marathon! I am excited to feature her again this week on the blogger feature.
Name: Cheri Armour
Blog: http://www.cheriarmour.com/
When did you first start blogging and why?
I actually started blogging as a part of a fundraising effort, called Running for Haiti, where I would run, and folks would sponsor me for every mile that I would run for 6 weeks. I ended up raising like $1500, and I loved the blogging part so much that I just kept going with it, and I’m really starting to love it. I really would love to be able to do this full-time!
What is your most helpful blogging tip?
I think my most helpful blogger tip would be to network, network, network. Read other blogs. Comment on other blogs. And if you see something that you love, reach out to that blogger! Bloggers are nice people!
What is your favorite fitness activity?
Zumba was my gateway drug! I started teaching in January of 2010, and I just took off from there. Now I teach 2 days a week, run the other days, and slip in some weights and yoga when I can. Running would be the top, I think.
What motivates you?
I think there are a few things that motivate me. I would be lying if I said I don’t like the way working out makes me look. But I LOVE the way it makes me feel. It makes me feel strong, beautiful, and energized, and I haven’t been able to ever get that feeling doing anything else.
What has fitness changed about your life?
I used to HATE my body. I swear, I would stare at my stomach in the mirror every chance I get. Now, I don’t do that. My body looks good because I’m good to it, and I love that fitness has given me that confidence.
What is your favorite pump up song?
There are so many these days! 4×4 by Miley Cyrus has helped me through a couple of tough workouts these last few days though 🙂 Don’t judge!
What is your favorite running distance?
I think a half is my favorite distance. I haven’t quite mastered the full just yet – I’ve done two and been happy to finish, but I want to do one and feel strong the ENTIRE time.
What is your favorite motivational quote/mantra?
I say to myself “one foot in front off the other” when I’m feeling like I can’t go on. I think about my husband-to-be a lot, I think about getting home to him, getting home to my dog, and getting home to my dog. That gets me through.
What is your favorite piece of running/fitness gear?
My favorite piece of gear? I have so many! I love a good pair of smartwool socks. I love Aquaphor to prevent chafing. I love my sports bras.
What is your favorite “treat”?
My favorite treat is probably wine. Nothing really tops a nice big glass of wine for me.
What is a long term running or fitness goal you have for yourself?
I want to run a marathon and feel good and strong the entire time. I also want to do an ultra, but don’t tell anyone – my family thinks I’m crazy enough as it is!
Tell us something unique about yourself.
I’m actually a pretty amazing singer. I auditioned for X-Factor a few years ago and got through a few rounds before I was cut.
That’s me!
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is starting out running, what would it be?
Don’t give up. Even on days that you don’t really feel like working out (provided it’s not your one or two rest days) go out and do SOMETHING. Run a mile, see how it feels. If you hate it, run back home. Now you’re at two miles. If you’re feeling it, go for more!
How do you find/make time to train?
I squeeze it it. Before work, after work, in-between. I just think that sticking to it and doing something every day is really really important.
What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
I think I am most proud of running/finishing the Greensboro Marathon. Emotionally, it was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done because my grandmother had just passed away and my brain wasn’t there.

Great interview 🙂 I love how we meet others through blogging. It’s true, bloggers are really nice people!
Agreed agreed. I have yet to meet someone who sucks as a person who blogs!
Neither have I! 🙂 Bloggers are awesome!
Great post Sara, loved learning about Cheri 🙂 Especially loved the response about never giving up! So very true. I have achieved some of my greatest results after the biggest setbacks 🙂
Setbacks are always hard but I too have achieved some of the best things in life from setbacks! Great reminder 🙂
Great interview! Wine is also my choice of a ‘treat’… nice to meet Cheri through your blog! What a great idea:)
