If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may remember back a long time ago when I did a review of Vega One.
I was recently given the opportunity to review Vega’s new line of bars (#VegaBars) due to my ambassadorship with #SweatPink. I was really excited because I know that Vega makes really good, high quality products.
In total I was sent four different bars to try out:
I had no idea they made so many different types!
Each of the bars to me have a different purpose when included in your day.
Vega Snack Bar (#VegaSnackBar)
This was hands down one of my favorite tasting bars of the group. I have been snacking on them every day since receiving it!
I was sent the Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts & Sea Salt and Cranberry Almond to try. My favorite was definitely the dark chocolate, but they were both delicious and were a great snack!
They thing I really loved about the snack bar is the fact that it was very light. I don’t want a heavy bar when I am snacking on during the day. It was the perfect amount.
Some notable facts about the Vega Snack Bar:
- Made from superfood whole food ingredients
- 1 g of Omega-3 from SaviSeed oil, chia seeds and hemp seeds
- Non-GMO
- Gluten Free
- Available in 5 flavors: Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts & Sea Salt, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Dark Chocolate Cashew Cherry, Cranberry Almond and Coconut Cashew.
Vega One Bar (#VegaOneBar)
As you know I am already a fan of Vega One. I was excited to try out the Vega One Bar as well!
To be completely honest I am not usually a fan of meal replacement bars. While I do think they are good every now and then when you are in a pinch, I personally think there are better options.
The taste of these remind me a lot of the Vega One powder itself. I was able to try the Chocolate Cranberry Almond and then Chocolate Peanut Butter. The first taste in both of the bars is the chocolate, but as you continue eating it you begin to taste what reminds me a lot of the Vega One powder.
It’s a good bar, but not my top choice.
Some notable facts about the Vega One Bar:
- 12 g complete plant based protein
- 4 g fiber
- 1 serving of greens
- 1 billion dairy-free probiotics
- 25 added vitamins and minerals
- Available in 3 flavors: Chocolate Cherry Almond, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Coconut Cashew.
Even though bars to me are not a great meal replacement, of all the ones I have found this bar contains the most whole, healthy and well balanced ingredients. If you have to replace a meal while on-the-go with a bar – this is the bar for you!
Vega Sport Energy Bar (#VegaSportEnergyBar)
The Vega Sport Energy Bar is designed to help fuel you through your workouts and races.
These bars are formulated to eat mid-workout to help keep you going strong. One of the things I’ve been struggling with lately is finding the energy to get out the door and run after getting home from work in the morning. It’s not that it’s super late in the day, it’s just that after being on my feet all morning I just want to sit down and run.
This bar was a great quick snack and helped give me just enough energy to get out the door. The consistency is very soft and chewy and makes it easy to eat as well if you enjoy snacking while in the middle of your workout or long run.
Some notable facts about the Vega Sport Energy Bar:
- 27 g of carbs from whole food ingredients
- High and low glycemic carbohydrates for both immediate and sustainable energy
- 1 g Omega-3
- Non-GMO
- Gluten Free
- Available in 2 flavors: Chocolate Coconut Almond and Apple Cherry
Not only will the energy keep you going but you can eat it knowing that the energy is coming from whole foods and not unnecessary processed sugars or artificial colors and sweeteners.
Overall, this was a delicious bar and one I will continue to use!
Vega Sport Protein Bar (#VegaSportProteinBar)
The Vega Sport Protein Bar is designed to give your muscles what they need to repair themselves.
After a hard workout the most important thing is to fuel your body to help recover and repair itself. These bars contain the necessary ingredients to help your body recover at its best.
These bars were my second favorite bar. They are filled with protein, amino acids and all the necessary wholesome ingredients that your body needs post work. Plus, they were delicious! I was able to try to the Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Mint and they were both so delicious!
Some notable facts about the Vega Sport Protein Bar:
- 15 g complete, multi-source, plant based protein
- 2.5 g BCAAs
- 2 g glutamine
- 1 g Omega-3
- non-GMO
- Gluten Free
- Available in 3 flavors: Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Peanut Butter
All of these bars were formulated by Brendan Brazier, a professional Ironman triathlete and bestselling author on plant-based nutrition. His book Thrive is an amazing collection of over 150 plant based recipes!
The great thing about this Vega Bar line is that you know what is in them. So many bars today promise energy, recovery, and sustainability through processed sugars, artificial sweeteners and preservatives. Vega promises all of those things through their bars but delivers it through whole food ingredients and plant-based nutrition.
Have you ever tried Vega Bars?
Do you use protein bars during your training?
I’ve been loving trying out these bars too! I love the ingredient list and how great they taste!
The ingredients are amazing!
YUM!! i’ve only tried a few but would love to try more!!
They are delicious! 🙂
I want to try Vega bars! The protein ones look good. I usually eat Clif Bars during training, because they’re sold at Costco and I like the ingredients. I’ve been branching out and trying different bars, lately.
I haven’t tried Vega bars, but have seen the protein powder at Whole Foods. I’m not really into bar food unless I’m in a bind (out all day running errands or need a quick snack on my drive home from a run), but these seem to be pretty natural. Thanks for sharing!
Yes I am the same way. I will sometimes take them pre-long run but in terms of as a meal replacement I try to avoid it. I am more of a “bar snacker” 🙂
It’s hard for me to find gluten-free and soy-free protein bars… do you know if these have soy? I’d love to have a soy-free protein bar option!
I have heard these are DELICIOUS. I try not to use bars, but it’s definitely useful to have some stashed in bags or at my desk for emergencies!
Yep that is exactly what I use them for Annie! They are a great emergency snack.
