First off, Happy Father’s Day to all those wonderful fathers out there! Especially mine and my father-in-law!
I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! After over 4 years, we finally both spent the weekend back at my in-laws beach house.
It was so wonderful to be back. It’s so peaceful here and it was a great time of relaxing with family.
Saturday morning started out with my long run. After a thunderstorm the night before it was almost 80% humidity here this morning. I was completely drenched in sweat only 2 miles in. I knew it was going to be a pretty long run.
I ended up completing 11 miles at an 8:33 average pace. Even though the humidity was crazy I kept a pretty steady pace. I got a little lost and missed a turn I had planned, but it ended up working out!
We spent most of the morning sitting out on the dock and enjoying the gorgeous weather while it lasted. We knew they were calling for storms again in the afternoon, so we soaked up the sun while we could.
Our morning and afternoon included:
Kayaking <– My arms are going to be sore in the morning!
Fishing
Teaching Zoe how to get out on the dock.
For some reason she hates walking on anything that she can see threw or that doesn’t have some sort of railing. She eventually got the hang of it!
It was so nice to just sit back, talk a little and relax. I couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday.
Zoe was so tired once the day was over! Poor thing. After we washed up we headed out to eat dinner and go and see Edge of Tomorrow. A great end to a great day!
Today we are heading back around noon. We are dropping the pup off at our house and then heading on to have dinner about 45 minutes away with my dad. The fun continues!
Since it Sunday, I thought I would get back on schedule this week and share my weekly training recap:

I have another workout planned, but not quite sure what my schedule will end up being.
This week went pretty well. My body is slowly adjusting to the heat which is a good thing since it looks like the week ahead isn’t going to be cooling down any.
It will only make me stronger!
How did your training go this week?
Got any Father’s Day plans?.
Looks like a fun day – and great that you get to spend it with both of your dads! I hear you on the heat – it’s making running so tough! Interesting to see that you have so many workouts and / or harder efforts during a week … curious to see how that goes for you. Looks like you’re feeling great in workouts so far!
I usually average 3 workouts a week. Sometimes I only do 2. Especially now that I live somewhere where it is MUCH warmer I tend to go off how I feel. Last Sunday I didn’t do my workout because I knew I needed a break. It just depends on how my body feels. So far so good though 🙂
Love getting ideas lately from your training log for my workouts…how do you feel doing a workout after a longer run? I’ve been doing a rest day, then longer run (10-12) then a shorter easy, followed by a speed workout or a tempo.
Looks like you’re having a great time at your new place!
Well last Sunday I didn’t do my workout after my long run, sometimes I just have to go off how I feel. Though there have been Sundays when my body is ready to go. It is usually a week by week kind of thing!
That beach house looks amazing! I bet it was so relaxing! Have a nice dinner with your Dad!
Thank you! It was so nice to get away for a bit!
I love your recaps 🙂 let’s chat soon
I agree!! Lets!
Looks like fun, but so hot! I can’t imagine running in that weather!
It is really hot but your body SLOWLY get used to it!
Zoe is gorgeous! my dog is in a dire need for grooming right now and looks like a yeti.
Zoe is actually going in for her grooming TOMORROW! She needs it badly!
I went for my first run since my race injury today! Woohoo! Awesome recap!
That is AWESOME!!! Congrats!
