Good morning!
We made it to the beach late yesterday afternoon. It is so peaceful here and I am looking forward to our short trip.
I’ve been hearing many people (including myself) talking about their struggle with the heat and humidity lately. It is tough and does a number on your body.
Hydration is something that I think we all have to figure out a balance. It is often a struggle because even when you don’t feel dehydrated you often are. In fact once you are at the point where you are actually thirsty, you are already there! You have to keep up with proper hydration not only during your workout but throughout the day.
Dehydration can have many affects on the body such as:
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Lack of focus
- Increased stress
- Reduced athletic performance
- Impairs productivity
It is estimated that three quarters of Americans suffer with dehydration each day. These people often just address the symptoms of dehydration instead of going deeper and trying to figure out what is causing the symptoms themselves.
Background of Drip Drop
50 years ago sciences discovered a way to treat dehydration with a mixture of sugar and electrolytes. This was known as Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS). For many years you could never really find ORS in any store, simply because the taste was less than desirable.
Drip Drop is the first ORS formula to combine these medical standards of rehydration along with an enjoyable taste. With the precise ratios of salts, sugars, potassium and several other ingredients Drip Drop combines all the ingredients for optimal performance and taste.
Drip Drop is currently being used by:
- US Special Forces
- Olympians
- Stanford University Medical Center
- The Mayo Clinic
- UCSF Medical Center
Drip Drop’s Mission
The origins of Drip Drop date back to the front lines of humanitarian relief. The founder of Drip Drop, Dr. Eduardo Dolhun witnessed first hand hundreds of people dying unnecessarily from dehydration while on mission work in Guatemala. Dr. Dolhum was able to witness first hand the power of ORS to save lives.
Drip Drop’s mission tis to improve the way the world hydrates. They work together with leaders across top industries to reduce dehydration’s impact on health, performance and safety.
My Thoughts on Drip Drop
I was given the opportunity to try out both the Lemon and Berry flavor.
As I’ve mentioned several times on the blog, when I take an electrolyte drink I have to be very careful due to my sensitive stomach. I also prefer my drinks to not be TOO sweet, and I don’t want to be able to taste the salt. I first began to try out Drip Drop on my shorter runs to see how it would do on my stomach.
I am very pleased to report that I had no stomach issues when taking Drip Drop. As for the taste, it is lightly sweetened and doesn’t overpower you with a sugary taste. Drip Drop contains no artificial flavorings, colors, or preservatives and is 98% natural.
I also found that a little goes a long way. Due to my sensitive stomach I drink more often in smaller amounts. It is effective and keeping you hydrated and I did noticed an improvement in my recovery.
As far as the flavors, while I liked both of them I preferred the Berry. It is just a personal preference. They are both lightly sweet and don’t add too much flavor to your water. It also mixes easily. You can simply fill up your water bottle, pour in the amount of powder you prefer and it mixes up in just a few seconds.
It is a great and effective hydration system and can be used not only for workouts but also when you are sick or just need a electrolyte pick me up!
