A little while ago I did a Day in the Life Post. Looking back on that post now it is crazy how different things are. I thought since my life has changed a little bit over the last few months I would try it again! I know this is going to be thrilling beyond words, so get ready!
I tried to remember to take as many pictures throughout the day as I could. There will be some gaps!
4:50 am – My alarm goes off. It’s early, really early! I drag myself out of bed and immediately put my running clothes on before I can think about what I am doing. I take Zoe out to potty, feed the cats and head immediately downstairs to start my run.
5:10 am – Start my workout. The workout I had scheduled for today was 3 x 1600 meters with 600 recovery. Each of the 1600’s were supposed to be run in 7:00 minutes.
6:15 am – Immediately get off the treadmill and head upstairs to start getting ready for work. I have exactly one hour before I need to be in the car and on my way.
6:30 am – After showering, I make a quick breakfast to eat while I am straightening my hair. If I had naturally straight hair I am pretty sure that my morning routine would go much quicker!
6:50 am – Finish getting dressed while also monitoring these two who were getting a little too rowdy. Seriously, Piper is probably the most energetic kitty I have ever met!
7:10 am – Fix my coffee right as I am heading out the door. There is no way that I could make it through the first 4-5 hours of the day without my coffee!
7:25 am – Arrive at work and get ready to head in. Going in at 7:30 am isn’t that big of a change from the 8-8:15 am I was used to but it sure does make a difference in what time I have to get up to start running. Snap a quick picture before I forget.
12:00 pm – Get my lunch break and head downstairs to grab lunch. One of the great things about my new job is the fact that lunch is provided every day. Today was Panera so I had their apple salad along pickles and bread. Yum! I didn’t take a picture because I was eating with a bunch of co-workers.
12:20 pm – Finish up lunch and head out to sit in my car a little while to make a few phone calls.
In case you wondering, this was the view from my car!
1:00 pm – Head back into work to finish out the rest of the day.
4:45 pm – Got off work and headed back home. For some reason I was extremely tired at the end of Tuesday. I hope this doesn’t continue – there is too much of the week left!
5:45 pm – Sit down to eat dinner with the hubs. I forgot to take a picture since we were busy talking, but we ended up having pasta with tomatoes and chicken. We also had fruit and veggies on the side!
6:15 pm – Head out to Target to pick up a few things Wes needed for his new rotation starting Monday.
I can get into some serious trouble in Target!
7:15 pm – Get home and take Zoe out to get some time to play. Poor thing isn’t used to having both of us gone so much and has some serious energy to get out!
8:00 pm – Sit down and get some work done, write this blog post and get some household items done.
10:00 pm – Do the final tasks of the night: clean the litter box, fold clothes and take Zoe out to potty and put her to bed.
10:30 pm – Bed! Get ready to do it all over again tomorrow!
I know my life is super thrilling! I have made it a point to make myself shut my computer and be in bed by 10:30 pm. 6 hours of sleep is the minimum that I can get a night and still be able to function for running and work the next day.
I’m finally starting to feel like I am getting into my new routine. Some days are easier than others, but I’m getting there!
Do you have the same schedule every day?
What time do you go to bed at night?
so much discipline to get out of bed that early! serious props to you.
Kudos to you–I am in awe of all you can get done in a day. Now, I just have to learn this trick myself!
Well done! Glad to see Piper is fitting right into the family.
My routine is pretty much the same every day except when I have early morning meetings. Dogs love a consistent routine, so I try to keep it the same for my dogs. I am working on having lights out by 10:00pm. Some days I am better at that then others. With the increased mileage and the 6 days a week running schedule, my body is requiring more sleep to recover.
-Run with joy!
Woohoo for early risers! Anytime in the 4 o-clock hour is prime time 😉
Yes, total routine person here. I am up at 4 am each day to either run, cycle or swim. I have flex time at work so normally come into the office by 8 am but start my day by 7 am when I work from home (3x per week). I wish I could get by on only 6 hours but I need more which means most nights during the week I am asleep by 8:30 pm! I make sure we jam pack our weekends with super fun stuff because I know I am like an old lady during the week.
How do you like your new job? Did you already share and I missed it: where do you work now?
Busy day! My Sheltie gets bummed out when my husband and I are busy, too. Luckily we make it up to her by playing a lot of fetch in our back yard. Since I work retail my schedule varies a lot, although I’m generally up at about the same time every morning to go on my run. I probably go to bed around 9:30 these days so I can get enough sleep before waking up early to run as soon as it’s light out!
My bedtime depends on if I have a blog post to write or not. Sometimes I end up staying awake way too late. I typical get 6 hours of sleep, but that’s not really enough for me. I also did a day in the life/WIAW post today. 🙂
Good for you for getting up so early! That’s awesome. I find that getting up early and staying on a consistent schedule allows me to get so much more done so I try my best to do that every day too.
Hope you are liking the new job!
I go to bed around 9 or 9:30 and get up at 4:45.
