Happy Wednesday!
Hope everyone is having a great week so far. It’s a plus we are already halfway through the work week! Tuesday started off with a rude awakening at 4:20 AM.
Thankfully my workout went amazingly well. After a 1.5 mile warm up my legs kicked into high gear and I was able to do my workout with “ease.” 3 x 1600 meters at a 6:58 pace with 600 recovery. I took the recovery very slow and made sure to take both the warm up and cool down slow and easy. This really made a huge difference.
Today I wanted to come and talk about something that’s been on my mind a lot. I’ve been struggling with my time recently. Sure, it could always be worse and I will never complain because I have been blessed in so many ways. However, I need to make a few changes to better utilize my time.
As you all know, I now work full time, have my own business, am training for a marathon, blog 7 days a week and try to squeeze in time for family and friends. It’s been a struggle the past few weeks. I thought it was just because I was getting back into my schedule, but I can see it getting out of hand.
I’ve made the decision to change things up and take a slight step back. So, what does that mean exactly?
I won’t be blogging every single day of the week. I will be posting a minimum of 3 times per week with possibly more depending on how the week is going. It’s not that I don’t want to be able to continue posting every day, but I have other things that require my time and attention.
It took me a while to get to the point where I am OK with that. This blog isn’t just something I casually do, it is something that pulled me through some really dark times. It was there from the beginning when I needed an outlet. It in a lot of ways is a part of may, however crazy that may sound.
So, I ask that you bear with me a little while. I love being here, I love each and every one of you, and I look forward to continuing to document this journey. Sometimes we all have to adjust to be able to make the most of our lives. I think this will be a good adjustment. I do hope that one day I can get back to posting everyday, but for now this is what is needed.
Thanks so much for reading every day! I hope this will allow me to do a better job and interacting with each of you and focusing on what is important!
Have you ever had to take a step back?
How did your run go yesterday?
Never feel bad for doing what you need to do to make your life the happiest and healthiest you can! Blogging every day is a huge commitment! Looking forward to your future posts, whenever they are 😉 ~Ree
It sounds to me like a good decision to make. I follow you on Facebokk and Instagram so I love seeing the pictures of your workouts.
I used to blog a couple of years ago, it was not about running but an organizational and cooking blog. My kids were young at the time, as the blog kept growing and I started spending more time on it I realized that what matted was the time with my kids and family. I had to take a step back and let the blog go since it was not that big at that point and focus on what mattered. . I also work full time.
definitely sounds like the right decision! i certainly cannot blog every day. it’s all about doing the best we can.
Sounds like a good plan. Best of luck balancing all of your commitments. We’ll still be here and look forward to your next posts (nice work on your speedwork, by the way!).
– Run with joy!
Thanks for sharing your experiences and lessons here. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog so far. A few fewer days a week is no problem at all — all the best managing your new priorities!
I think this is a great decision for you. It takes a lot of balance to stay healthy, and some times you really need to step back from one aspect of life. I’m learning that a lot lately!
My run yesterday was the first time I had ran in a few days due to some calf issues. I took it pretty easy because I have a half marathon on Saturday, but if still felt amazingly good!
Good for you!
Totally understandable! Blogging is a huge time commitment. You have to find the best balance you can.
