Hello and happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week. Monday here started with pouring rain, but I was still determined to make the most of it!
6 miles on the treadmill this morning. Not really how I wanted to start Monday, but a treadmill run is better than no run at all – right!?
Motivation has always been something that comes and goes with me. Right now, being in full on marathon training, I tend to sustain motivation just with the knowledge and excitement of the goals ahead of me. However, often times during the off season (or at 4:00 AM in the morning) getting up and getting my run in is the last thing I want to do.
I was recently given the opportunity to try out a new app called The Fitness Games through my ambassadorship with Sweat Pink. Running to me has always been somewhat easy to find motivation, but when it comes to strength work I often want to do anything else.
It’s something so vital to staying injury free, but it is also something that is so easily put off for another day.
When I first heard about The Fitness Games I thought it would be a great chance to boost my motivation when it came to strength training, and to help put some fun back into it!
So, what exactly is The Fitness Games?
The goal of The Fitness Games apps is to bring together social media, fitness and gaming. It takes normal exercise and turns it into a fun game to boost motivation!
What can you do on The Fitness Games?
- Post photos and videos
- Challenge anyone to any type of workout at any time
- Challenge yourself to one of the workouts created by their very own personal trainers
- Track your friends progress in real time
- Choose from your own workouts or select from 50 included workouts
All of the workouts within the app were created by Arya Frazin and Joseph Phillips, two nationally certified trainers with a 20 years experience in the fitness industry.
The workouts are divided into four categories:
- Cardio
- Strength
- Full Body
- Cross Training
After the completion of each workout you receive points which are awarded based on how hard your worked during the workout. These points can then be used to unlock new workouts and level up!
The app also tracks and records all of your workouts so that you can reference them and track your progress over time.
We all struggle to find motivation some days, and one of the biggest keys to being successful is to make sure you do things that are fun! My Fitness Games works to add fun to your workouts, and allows you to have multiple workout partners no matter where you are located.
Workout partners are another great benefit of staying motivated. Challenge others and encourage others to get their workout in!
Motivation is a tricky thing. Without doing something you love every day, it makes it difficult. I am very thankful and blessed to have found something I really love doing, but that doesn’t mean I can get away with skipping things such as strength training. This great app allows me to bring some of the fun back to a sometimes tedious part of my week!

I’ll occasionally run or workout with someone, but it is mainly myself holding myself accountable. This app looks great to keep ya going!
My motivation is all about my race performance. I know a lot of people get motivated by running a marathon a month, or the 50 states challenge, etc., but I just need to keep pushing myself in my workouts, because I want the next race to be faster/better than the last race. It isn’t even about age group placing or overall race placement, or even about being faster than friends – just about me and that darn clock. Ultimately, now that I am running marathon distance, I am driven by the desire to BQ.
-Run with joy!
Cool app!
