Happy FRIDAY!
Even though I had a short week, it has seemed to go by so slow. Both my husband and I have been really exhausted all week. We are really looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep this weekend.
We’ve got a snow storm coming through today, so I ended up on the treadmill on Thursday morning. I could have gone outside, but between being extremely tired of not being able to feel my hands and not wanting to slip on black ice I opted for the dungeon basement treadmill.
I remember why I enjoy running on the treadmill when doing a workout so much more. The simple 5 miles I had scheduled seemed to take forever to go by.
I have a feeling I am going to get to spend a lot more time on the treadmill this weekend. When I know it’s coming, I mentally prepare myself for it so that I’m ready on Saturday.
One of the biggest aids to me when I’m stuck on the treadmill, especially for a long run, is my music. I will try and find 2-3 new songs ahead of time that I can look forward to hearing while I’m running. It’s been a while since I’ve shard some of the music I’m listening too, so I figured it was time!
Here are 6 of my current favorites getting me through my longer weekend runs.
Break Up in a Small Town – Sam Hunt
Hello – Adele (REMIX)
I have to admit, I don’t really like the song too much but when my husband played this remix to it I really enjoy the beat and it is fun to run to!
Gonna Know We Were Here – Jason Aldean
Yours – Russell Dickerson
A slower song but one of my favorites.
Lightening – Olivia Lane
Riser – Dierks Bentley
Adding just 1-2 songs for a treadmill run can help to keep you interested, focused, and gives you something to look forward to.
What are some of your favorite songs? I need some new ones for this weekend!
Do you enjoy running on the treadmill?
How do you beat treadmill boredom?
To be totally honest i do not like neither enjoy the treadmill! But eraqlity hits and since i live in London now where the weather isn’t a great one for runners i will have to get used to it. I guess music would be a very important thing. I have also been toying with the idea of watching something on my phone on Netflix during my run if there are no pace changes.
I love some of these songs- it sounds like we have the same taste in music (country). Break up in a small town really resonates with anyone whose ever lived in a small town, too. I’ll have to check out that Adele remix.
I don’t mind the treadmill so much because I live in SC and it’s a rarity for me to have to use it, but when I do it’s at a Planet Fitness so there’s TV and people watching. Seeing that picture of your basement treadmill, it would be a huge mental challenge for me to run there (it really does remind me of a dungeon…)
I added “do or die” to my playlist after discovering it thanks to your blog and, since then, it has officialy become the last song of my marathon playlist 😉
I never run on the treadmill (don’t own one and don’t have a gym membership), but I listen to music 50% of the times while running (unless I’m at the track or running with my teammates). I have different playlists for different kinds of runs, but a particular running song that I’m loving lately is “Carry On” by Fun. It gives me such a sense of positivity! I’m actually planning to listen to it while going up Hearthbreak Hill in Boston.
Oh man, I’ve been stuck on the treadmill all weekend with our snow situation. Adding new songs certainly helps some. For my long run I watched a movie then played my favorite playlist with includes the song Roots by imagine dragons. It’s not a super long song but it gets me pumped up!
