Happy Sunday! Oh, and it is a VERY happy one around here!
We got to the beach yesterday afternoon and have been soaking up every single second so far. I knew I needed this vacation, but I don’t think I realized just how much. Today is our first full day and we are so excited to go out, explore, and just relax. I feel like it has been so long since I have truly relaxed.
I still plan on keeping up a pretty consistent running routine to help keep my body moving in the right direction. There is no pressure though, so we will see how I feel and what I end up doing as the week progresses.
Since it Sunday, that means it’s time to look back at my week of running/exercise:
Monday
Total time: 45 minutes
I started the week off with a longer run. I’ve stuck to the plan of not going above 45 minutes during the week and I think it went well. It keeps me from pushing the miles too quickly. Just over 4.75 miles total. I did some strength work when I got home.
Tuesday
Total time: 40 minutes
I cut back the time a bit on Tuesday, but not by much. I was so tired and never really woke up. I had a big closing at work that day so my head was kind of all over the place. It took me about 20-25 minutes to finally let everything go and just relax and run. I did a total of around 4.25 miles.
Wednesday
Total time: 20 minutes running/30 minutes spinning
I decided to treat Wednesday as my step back day again. Instead of just running for 30 minutes, I broke up the workout. I started with 20 minutes on the treadmill which put me around 2.1 miles. Afterwards, I hopped on the spin bike, grabbed my book, and spun for 30 minutes.
It was really nice to be able to break it up. It also used different muscles which really helped. I came home after work and did some quick strength work before I started fixing dinner.
Thursday
Total time: 45 minutes
My last run of the work week was another 45 minutes. I tried to really relax during this one and go a bit of a different route to switch things up a bit. I did just over 4.75 as usual. I tend to run about the same pace each day even though I don’t look at my watch until I get home.
Friday
Off
Per usual, I took Friday off which was good because I had a lot of packing and travel related errands to get done!
Saturday
Total time: 60 minutes
We were leaving for the beach Saturday morning, but I still wanted to get my “long run” in before we got in the car. Long runs are a bitt different for me these days, but they are still one of my favorite runs of the week.
This time I went out to a local trail and ran 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back totaling just over 6.5 miles. I felt good and it’s absolutely amazing how much better I feel when I run in the day light and when I’ve had ample time to get a good nights sleep!
The pace is still a far off from where I was, but I’m happy with it!
Sunday
The goal for my first day at the beach is a nice long walk on the beach. I still like to take 1 full rest day and 1 active rest day each week. I figured since I’m at the beach, it would be wonderful to get out and walk around the beach!
Now it is time to relax and enjoy this beautiful view for the rest of the week.
How did your running go this week?
Do you ever take “active rest days”?
You woke up way too early on Saturday for vacation! <3
Ha! Our bodies don’t sleep past 7:30 anymore it seems 🙂
