Hello 3rd trimester! How crazy is that!? I feel like it wasn’t that long ago that we were just finding out we were pregnant. I know the weeks are counting down but finally after a rough start, I’ve been able to take most of this week more in stride than I have previously. Sure, we still have a lot to do but we will get there – one day at a time.

I’m feeling much bigger, but overall still pretty good. I really can’t complain because I know it could be a lot worse.

Here is a look at week 28!

Baby in Week 28

28 Weeks: This week our little guy is the size of an eggplant and is roughly 15 inches and 2.2 lbs.

The bigger I get the harder it is for me to be excited about taking these pictures. Ha! However; I know I will love having these to look back on.

Weight Gained: I haven’t weighted myself since my last appointment, but I go back in next week. I’m still guessing I’m around 17-18 lbs but who really knows!

Symptoms: As you all know, I had some serious hormonal emotions going on Sunday and Monday, but I seem to have gotten a little bit more in control of those as the week progressed. I’m still tired a lot and 4:30 AM alarms are getting harder by the week, but still chugging along.

Food Aversions: None. I will pretty much eat anything at any time! I am just going to keep this here from last week because it is still accurate.

Food Cravings:  I love sweets but I’m still finding myself really wanting salty foods. Chips and French fries are probably my favorite things in the world right now. I do also really love fruit! At least I have one healthy option on the list this week.

Sleep: It’s still about the same. Not great but it could be a lot worse. Instead of just being restless I can’t seem to get comfortable since I can only sleep in two positions. I wake up to use the restroom at least 2 times per night. It’s not a bad sleep just not the most comfortable.

I am very thankful for my Boppy Pregnancy Pillow or I have no doubt it would be even more difficult.

Baby Items Purchased: We are slowly coming along! We have our stroller, car seat (more to come on that in the future), a few clothing items, some diapers, sound machine, and a few other odds and ends. I will try to go through a lot of them in the coming months, but most of them are still stuck in our nursery closet right now until we start actually setting up the nursery.

Exciting Things Happening This Week:  Still pretty excited that we got the nursery painted. My baby shower invitations went out so it is definitely feeling more real! We haven’t gotten too much progress made this week, but hopefully in the near future! We’ve got so much going on between now and the end of October it is unreal.

Looking forward To: I don’t have anything too specific in the coming week; I do have a doctor’s appointment but nothing too exciting going on there. Still working on getting things set up. My running stroller is coming in this week! My in-laws were amazing and purchased it for us so I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Running in Week 28

Running was pretty normal this week. Still feeling heavy and each week it gets a little more exhausting but we are still plugging on! I am just taking it each week and seeing what my body has in it. I’m enjoying running more but I won’t lie some mornings are really tough especially running so early in the morning!

Here is a breakdown of my running this week:

Monday – 6.2 miles on the treadmill

Tuesday – 4.15 miles outside

Wednesday – 6.2 miles on the treadmill

Thursday – 4.13 miles outside

Friday – Off

Saturday – 9.17 miles

Sunday – 6 miles

I didn’t think Monday’s run was going to happen thanks to a rough start to the day, but thankfully I got the emotions out of the way and got started. There is just something about waking up at 4:20 am exhausted, 3 different things going wrong, and pregnancy hormones that just don’t mix well together.

Saturday we decided to switch things up a little bit. We headed to my in-laws in order to run on a local trail to get a change of scenery. My husband had one of his last big workouts leading up to Chicago so he needed something different.  I ended up running 9.17 miles. Overall, it felt OK. I was strong in the beginning but the longer I go the more I can feel it on my body.

I was very surprised by my pace on this run, but I won’t complain! I think the change of scenery really did me good!

How did your running go this week?
